Here are my learnings and findings from a 2.5-year journey and making $25k in total, operating solo:

1. AI (coding) courses are hard!

You have three big pieces code, content, and video recording/editing whereas other course creators don’t have the code part.

Code breaks with time. Shipping docker containers is not practical for learners so you have to make it easy with Google Colab etc. It needs constant updates.

Code is not eternal wisdom so with newer versions of libraries, the API and function calls change. People will call it outdated! So it becomes a perishable object with a ~1–1.5 year validity. You need to make money in that window.

2. It is not constant recurring revenue like SaaS

Launch months are great if you market it well. I made 1500$ on the first month of the Practical NLP course on my own website (learnnlp.academy) hosted on Podia.

But nowadays I make between 2–5 sales. The course is 99$, so probably 200–500$ max monthly. This month’s sales are attached in the pic. You can see that they are very sporadic.
